Description.

Introduction:-
www.lankapage.com
is a leading news magazine website in Sri Lanka which helps most of the Sri
Lankans to get update about the current local and foreign news. Also this page
provides recent news as well as past news. There are several news categories
such as Political, Security, Finance, Sports etc.
Although
this site has been there for 19 years in the internet still there are some
drawbacks. So our target is to identify those drawbacks and make it a more
efficient, user-friendly and reliable news magazine web site.

3. List
of Features.
·
Can
view top story of the day.
·
Can
access to social networks such as Facebook, Twitter.

Can
publish /read advertisements.

Can
send feedback.
·
Can
view several separate news in the home page.

Can
view a single news in full story mode.
·
Can
get the links of recent 10 stories at the end of a full news story.
·
Can
view news under separate categories.
·
Can
view the recent headlines in a separate section in the homepage.
·
Can
view the last updated date and time of the website.
·
Can
view relevant images for the particular news.
·
There
is a brief introduction about Sri Lanka in a popup section at the end of the
homepage.

Admins
can publish news.

Can
subscribe to get the breaking news alerts via emails.
·
Can
view the Disclaimer and about us sections.
4. Users.
·
Local
and foreign userswho are interested in reading news through the internet.
5. Describe
list of features to be improved (at least 10).
·
Can
subscribe to get the breaking news alerts via emails.
We are planning to
develop a way where user can gets braking news alerts to their mobile phones
through text messages as well.
·
Can
view the recent headlines in a separate section in the homepage.
Currently this
section is in a separate area in the home page where user doesn’t get to notice
at once and it is bit complicated. We are planning to implement this on the top
of the home page in a horizontal thin bar where the recent news headlines are
moving in that horizontal bar.
·
Admins
can publish news.
We
are planning to implement the login function and that interface will be at the
top right corner of the homepage. So that admins can login to the system and
can post/maintain the news.
·
Can
publish /read advertisements.
Currently
these advertisements are here and there in the site. We are planning to publish
them on a particular section on the right side.
·
Can
view news under separate categories.
Currently
these categories can't find at once in the Homepage. We are planning to make
them more visible and easier for user to find.
·
Can
view several separate news in the home page.
Currently these news
are everywhere in the homepage. It looks so complicated. So we are planning to
reduce the complexity and provide a simple interface

Can
view relevant images for the particular news.
There are only images
at the moment in this news site. We are planning to provide relevant links to
the videos as well.
·
Can
view top story of the day.
The top story of the
day is not much highlighted. We are planning to highlight the top story of the
day.
·
Can
view the Disclaimer and About us sections.
We are planning to
give more information on these sections.
·
There
is a brief introduction about Sri Lanka in a popup section at the end of the
homepage.
We
are planning to remove this section, since this is irrelevant to this site.
